Defense giants like Huntington Ingalls are the ones who make headlines but it’s the company’s network of suppliers that makes the military-industrial complex tick
The aircraft carrier itself is just the tip of the iceberg. Each air carrier requires a small fleet of escort ships (air carrier battle group) just to protect the behemoths: 2 destroyers, 2 cruisers, two frigates, submarines, and a supply ship. So it all adds up to many billions of dollars annually to build, maintain, and operate. Also, need to include the pay and benefits for the thousands of crew that the small fleet needs to operate.
However the biggest scandal is that these giant sink holes in the ocean that American taxpayers pour their hard-earned dollars into are today totally obsolete and vulnerable to existing hypersonic anti-ship missiles. Both Russia and China have enough of these missiles (maybe $1 million apiece) to sink the entire fleet of US air carriers about five times over.
Rest assured no US Navy Admiral, CNO, DOD Secretary, or any corrupted Congress person will ever admit this to the American public.
If the US and its allies were not rapeing the world for profits and power there would be no need for 12 or 15 Aircraft Carriers plus their support ships.We would not need an increase in the F35 the most costly airplane invented and produced that can not fly.If the Capitalists and the Imperialists that rule the US and its stooges gave a shit about their citizens they would give up this stupid game that ultimately will destroy the planet and kill us all.Not going to happen. The only question is where,when and how soon the Earth dies.
